The Northern Head and Neck Cancer Charity was set up by family and friends, in memory of a very special person. Our friend was a patient at the Freeman Hospital, Newcastle and to them, we raise our hats in thanks for his wonderful care. He was a collector of hats which is reflected in our logo.

The aim of the Charity is to make life better for those diagnosed with head and neck cancer and to heighten awareness of the disease, enabling faster detection and early stage treatment. Prompt detection can really make a difference and the disease can be treated successfully if caught early enough.

The objectives of the Charity are:

To preserve and protect health for the public benefit and provide relief for persons who are suffering or have suffered from head and neck cancer in the northern area of England by:

  1. Raising awareness of a head and neck cancer
  2. Supporting research and education in the field of head and neck cancer
  3. Relieving the needs of head and neck cancer patient and improve their care experience
  4. Otherwise supporting individuals suffering from or who have suffered from head and neck cancer

HANCC was founded in August 2013 and we were proud to have funded an awareness conference in November each year for dental staff, medical professionals, pharmacists and others who may come in contact with those suffering from head and neck cancer. We are working hard fundraising to pay for many more such conferences and awareness events.

Thank you to all our supporters and friends, those who have climbed mountains, run, baked cakes, knitted bears, cycle, jumped off and climbed high building, zip wired across the Tyne, sang and danced or simply made a donation. To you we say thank you without you HANCC cannot do what we do.
