Fundraising for HANCC

With your support, we can support others.

You can help in many ways: run a marathon, take part in a bike ride, zip across the Tyne, abseil down the Baltic, climb a mountain, run a quiz, organise a music night, sit in a bath of custard – the possibilities are endless.

Whatever you do, we are here to support you – get in touch beth@northernhancc.org and let us know what your plans are and we will support you in any way that we can.

Don’t forget to share your challenge with your friends and family on social media.

Please just get involved

Donating couldn’t be easier, you can donate by post* or online. We have an online donation platform using the Just Giving platform. You can access this using the following link to register your event which you can then share www.justgiving.com/northernhancc

Just Giving will collect money from your sponsors and pay it to us alongside any qualifying gift aid.

Alternatively you can download a digital sponsor form here.

*Gift Aid your donation – if you are a UK taxpayer. It means that we can receive an extra 25p for every £1 donated, at no extra cost to you.

We would love to hear from you when you completed fundraising, sharing images and details of your efforts and we can post your story on our website (with your permission). We also have a Facebook and Twitter account where we can share your news. Search for the Northern head and neck cancer charity.

Please be aware that Northern HANCC cannot accept liability for any incidents relating to independently organised fundraising events.

Donating to HANCC

The death of someone we love is always a sad and difficult time. It is often the job of close family and friends to decide how their loved one should be remembered.

A gift to the charity they supported during their lifetime can be a lasting and fitting tribute. Many people now ask for donations to be made in lieu of funeral flowers, or you may wish to make a personal gift directly to HANCC making it easy for family and friends to donate at a funeral or memorial service and to gift aid their donation if appropriate. Please contact us and we can supply collection tins, collection envelopes or our pins and boxes where donors can wear our pins with pride.

Please remember to let us know who your gift is in memory of and your name and address so we can write and thank you. A letter will also be sent to the next of kin after the funeral, acknowledging and thanking them for the total amount donated.

Your support really does make a difference and thank you for thinking of the Northern Head and Neck Cancer Charity at such a sensitive time.

If you wish to send a cheque please can you write it out to Northern Head and Neck Cancer Charity as unfortunately our bank will not accept abbreviations.

Gift Aid

Am I eligible for Gift Aid?

You are, if you are a UK tax payer, you must have paid income or capital gains tax in the UK for each tax year at least equal to the tax that all charities or Community Amateur Sports Clubs (CASCs), that you donate to will reclaim on your gifts for that tax year. Other taxes such as VAT and Council Tax do not qualify.

Can my donation be Gift Aided?

It can, if it’s a personal donation and made from a personal bank or building society account. Unfortunately, we are unable to claim Gift Aid on donations made from company accounts. The donation must be your own personal donation and not the proceeds from a 3rd party event. So for instance, we can’t claim on donations made from a coffee morning or from a collection box.

What is a Gift Aid declaration?

It’s simply a statement by an individual taxpayer (you) that you want a charity (us) to receive the tax paid on your donation back from HMRC.
